Yoga Classes
Hatha Yoga
A yoga class described as ‘Hatha' will typically involve a set of physical asanas (yoga poses) and pranayama (breathing techniques), practised more slowly and with more static posture holds, sometimes incorporating a flow. Each class focuses on different Chakras and energy centres of the body, introducing differing intents of traditional yoga philosophy.
Dynamic, Gentle and Beginners classes are also all Hatha Classes.
Vinyasa Flow
Vinyasa Flow Yoga is focused on building strength and endurance with a well-sequenced Vinyasa Flow.
It is more advanced, so it is not suitable for beginners as it is a faster pace, so there is less focus on adjustments. Strong breathwork and focus are required for an exhilarating class.
Sound Bath
Using traditional wind and percussion instruments including Crystal Bowls, Gongs and Chimes, a sound bath is a meditation class that aims to guide you into a deep meditative state while you're enveloped in ambient sound.
The sound bowls each may offer unique healing high-frequency sound that are tuned to perfect pitch, promoting relaxation. Binaural beats are said to provide many of the same benefits as meditation. Gongs add depth with powerful, reverberating sounds, while chimes bring a light, ethereal quality to the experience.
The combination of sound waves are designed to be heard but also felt physically, engaging the parasympathetic nervous system, and encouraging a deep state of relaxation. This may help lower blood pressure, reduce stress hormone levels, and slow the heart rate, inviting the body to potentially heal and restore itself and enhance wellbeing.
Yin Yoga
Yin yoga works on the yin tissues, also known as the connective tissues, so we hold the poses for longer, creating more space and movement in the joints, tendons, ligaments, and fascia.
Different Yin yoga poses stimulate and remove blockages in the meridians in the body, focusing and balancing the body’s internal organs and systems. Yin yoga requires the muscles to relax around the connective tissue in order to get a deep stretch. This practice is not only relaxing but also very uplifting and energising, leaving you feeling rejuvenated and ready to take on the day.
Restorative Yoga
Restorative yoga, a practice that enables deep relaxation, involves holding poses with the aid of props, without strain or pain. You will then hold the pose for an extended period of time stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system leading you into deep relaxation. It's a calming and rejuvenating practice suitable for all, offering a much-needed break from the daily hustle and bustle.
Gentle Yoga & Yoga Nidra Meditation
Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep in modern usage, is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping.
The Five Stages of Yoga Nidra - Yoga Nidra typically involves five stages of guided meditation. These stages include relaxation, intention setting, visualisation, self-awareness, and integration. Each stage helps you deepen your relaxation and connect with your inner consciousness.
